About
Director and producer, Laura Gabay is co-founder of the Écran Mobile collective, where she has been producing films since 2018. After studying economics and social sciences, she studied cinema at HEAD – Genève, at the EICTV (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba), and completed a Master's degree at the EQZE (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, San Sebastián).
As a producer, she has brought to the screen the short film Carbón, directed by Davide Tisato (Best Short Film, Winterthur Short Film Festival 2020), Criatura, directed by María Silvia Esteve (Best Short Film, Locarno Film Festival 2021), and Fantasmagoría, directed by Juan Francisco González (world premiere, DocLisboa 2022).
In 2023, she directed her first feature film, Para no olvidar, which premiered at Visions du Réel. Her short film Viento dulce salado screened at Visions du Réel and at IDFA in 2019. In 2025, she directed Noi donne. She is currently directing and producing her second feature film, Embracing the World, and developing as producer the first feature films El viaje perdido, directed by Juan Francisco González, and Ponte dei Salti, directed by Morena Henke. She is also co-producing the short film Tave Heyiv, directed by Genjo Selwa, and developing Mabilia, a documentary built from a family archive of 16mm and 9.5mm film.
Alongside her production and directing work, Laura Gabay teaches Super 8 and 16mm filmmaking at institutions including HEAD – Genève, the University of Geneva, and Zebra Lab in Switzerland, as well as in Spain, Colombia, Brazil and Cuba. In 2026, she joins the EURODOC annual program.
